Blaque/OUT Equity & Inclusivity Architects, led by Tamara Leigh, take a very different approach to DE&I work. All the Educators that work with Blaque/OUT are not just trained professionals but are a part of the QTPOC community to ensure that they can speak from a point of personal experience. We feel that it is a vital component of the work that we do. Lived experience reaches far beyond anything you can be taught.
Through Speaking Engagements, Workshops & Educational Sessions, Procedure & Policy Audit & Appraisals, Project Consultation, Curriculum Development & DEI Residencies we work to evaluate where an entity currently is, help to flesh out where they'd like to evolve to and create a cohesive and strategic plan to attain those goals whether through a singular engagement or on-going relationship.
But the key to that is relationships. Very few people intentionally chose to operate in hate, racism, homophobia, misogyny or transmisia. These very real conditions are typically based in ignorance about experiences outside of one's own and lack of self-exploration which allow bias and privilege to lead. To not educate, to not dig deep into the hard conversations and choose to create a different self, a different organization and a different world is a choice.
By choosing Blaque/OUT we hope to build those relationships, assist in those explorations of self and educate to evolve beyond the ignorance that stunts all of our abilities to collectively grow.
Our primary, Tamara Leigh is a Black, Queer woman who educates and advises from her own personal experiences in the BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and QTPOC communities, from her professional work as an Advocate, Activist and Educator for 10+ years, and her 12+ years of experience as a Public Relations specialist. She is the Editor of Blaque/OUT Magazine
Speakers that come in to address participants, staff, Board, team or community group about QTPOC/BIPOC/LGBTQ+ related topics. These topics may include how implicit bias impacts your mission, respectful use of pronouns, LGBTQ+ or Trans Rights/History, Creating Safe Spaces for QTPOC clients/staff/youth/families etc.
This can be done in person or via zoom.
Blaque/OUT provides very conversational based workshops and education for Boards, staff, teachers, organizers etc. that center around working through and implementing DE&I in an everyday working environment. This may mean one specific topic or multiple tackled in one session or over time. The facilitator will present content, take questions and provide feedback during these work sessions. This is where you have the opportunity to ask real questions that you may not be able to ask in many other spaces. These sessions can focus on topics such as: Pronoun usage in the workplace, Creating safe spaces for Trans staff/students, Implicit Bias and MicroAggressions etc.
Tamara Leigh sits down with Leadership/ Admin/ Board to evaluate existing forms, policies, procedures, marketing material, physical environment etc. with a DE&I QTPOC/LGBTQ+/BIPOC lens and creates recommendations to assist you in achieving your Equity goals.
It is imperative and socially responsible to make sure LGBTQ+, QTPOC and specifically Trans voices are at the table when creating plans of any kind that impact the community. Blaque/OUT subcontracts for grants, on community based projects and as subcontractors alongside the primary contractor to offer BIPOC/QTPOC/LGBTQ+ perspective on community facing projects and strategic planning contracts to ensure this portion of the community at-large is heard, represented and reflected within the planning process.
Each of Blaque/OUT's educational trainings is written as new & relevant content for the specific audience that will be receiving it.
Blaque/OUT developed & was granted a US Copyright in 2023 for a DEI Guided Self-Reflection Tool that assists organizations and individuals exploring how to be more successful in Community Engagement by realizing the implicit biases that are often unknowingly at in play.
Tamara Leigh has also consulted in the creation of university curriculum based on the New York Times Magazine, 1619 Project and in the development of LGBTQ+ History curriculum as part of an Anti-Racist Curriculum project for New York State high-school students.
In 2024, Blaque/OUT Consulting is introducing a new and innovative solution to creating a more diverse and inclusionary culture within non-profit, business, and educational entities- “DEI RESIDENCIES.”
For those invested in truly integrating equity into the fabric of their organization, this opportunity brings our lead consultant, Tamara Leigh, to become a part of your organization for a week, a month, or a quarter to fully immerse herself in the work that you do. Interviews, reviews of staff, board training, equity workshops, crisis management, policy and procedure, all with the goal of revamping your equity quotient with recommendations and guidance.
What makes this experience even more unique, is with the more intense in-person and concentrated long term interaction, Tamara can also utilize her Public Relations background to direct and assist with the roll-out of your initiative both internally and externally to the community that you serve.

Blaque/OUT prides itself on creating curriculum and services that correlate directly to the specific agency, org or entity that we are working with. There is no such thing as cookie-cutter or one-size fits all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work.
We encourage you to reach out for a 1:1 consultation to discuss what we do, your goals and how those things might work together.
Generally speaking, Blaque/OUT offers the following services:
It is a strange strange world during a strange strange time when the possibility of the 1st Black Woman being elected President of the United States happens the same week that we watch a Black woman being murdered by the police, that SHE called, in her own kitchen because of a pot of water boiling on her stove. It is and these times very much represent that two very different things can be true at the same time. In the excitement and exasperation of a new candidate for the country's highest office, when many of us very much hoped for one, many are rallying for and against Kamala Harris. The stakes are high for everyone but the issues are also complex and experienced very differently depending on who you are in this country. You may already consider yourself an ally. Or you may have never even considered the idea of what it means to be an ally to Black Women in this country. And although many of us share the same excitement and hope for the future, the way that it is experienced by Black women (and especially Black Trans & Queer women in this case) can be very, very different and if you in fact want to not only see the best possible outcome for the election but work side by side with Black women to see that happen, this is a very important conversation that you may want to be a part of. It is also a safe space for you to ask questions and get honest and open feedback or advice without judgement.
Two different sessions will be offered via zoom, Sunday, August 11th 12-2PM or Wednesday, August 14th 6-8PM via zoom. When you complete the registration, you will receive a zoom invite and link to join the session of your choice.
